History

Lazy Camels (previously Camel) is a young band whose early works were affected by the Arctic Monkeys, works to enrich the riff with the bass and the drummer with the overall interpretation of his works out of the garage of the new structure of doctrine. The latter part of the main creator of the band strayed into the sound of The Vines and grunge. Their later work is more direct, structural and innovative sound, showing that a creative idea can not be ignored.

Lazy Camels have grabbed our attention with their distortion-heavy, loud/quiet sound (think Nirvana or the Pixies) and screamy vocals. We sat down with frontman Cui En to find out more.

The band started in March 2009 in Handan, Hebei Province, a place where it’s hard to get fresh cultural information.

When band frontman Cui En got into [[[Gala]] the first time in 2007, he was so impressed that he wanted to start his own band to do impressive music. Since he had a fav for camels, he simply named his band after this humble animal but he soon felt that the name Camel alone wasnt enough to represent their characteristic and because laziness is one of their traits, he simply rename the band to Lazy Camels. Like the name of our band, one can probably tell they might be a bit lazy, and actually quite hot-tempered. They don’t like to utter even a word between songs when we play. "We are not sunny or positive people in any way, shape or form" Cui En says about themselfs. He sees Beijing as a dreamland, and they come here to follow their musical dreams no matter if the dreamland is real or not.
