The one bright spot down this quiet alley comes from the colorful lights flickering like a marquee for a Tiffany’s show in Thailand. What’s on offer here, however, is not Katooey cabaret, rather it’s a gathering spot for imaginative people: people who have an interest in the arts, music and sports. Inside, the Mediterranean-style daybeds present an inviting platform for intelligent conversation, while foosball and darts are available for players in the mood for a different sort of challenge. Some elements of the décor do seem out of place – including the Simpsons poster – but that incongruity soon faded from our consciousness with the arrival of our Margaritas and Snowballs (RMB 35 each). This bar might appear a trifle tacky, but the great live music, good drinks and friendly service more than offset the dubious visuals. Here, one can enjoy good clean fun, of the sort generally available at a good neighborhood bar.
