History
Hollow was founded by Brian on Vocals and Guitars, Florian on Guitars and Julian on Drums in Winter 2003 as a small project besides their other bands.
The band played regularly in the Red Bar in San Li Tun every Wednesday evening mainly soft cover songs by Metallica (Nothing else matters) and some songs of their own (The 'Laid'-song, Alcoholics, others...).
In April, Hollow, had the chance to meet Yang of the Painkiller Heavy Music Magazine who helped them to get a gig at the Old Get Lucky Bar in Beijing as the third band. Missing a vocalist and a bassist at that time, they were nervous und uncertain of the audience's reactions.
To their great surprise most people liked their 'old school' metal and applaused them.
Following their success at the Get Lucky Bar they won some strength in themselves and checked out the Nameless Highland, Beijing, and played successfully on a punk concert.
With their next concert in the Old Get Lucky bar, May 29th 2004, Hollow offered a surprise: After getting introduced by Yang to the band, Hunzi (ex-Snow Funeral), a Chinese vocalist, joined Hollow and presented the former mostly instrumental songs with a dark and evil raw vocal melody.[1]
400 visitors came that night and under the heavy grooving rhythm of HOLLOW the mosh pit was loaded with pogo dancing and headbanging. HOLLOW Chief Brians officially announced Zigwac (Hunzi) as their new Vocalist that night, the night that can be seen as Hollow's real establishment in Chinese music underground.
With their last concert before their summer break Hollow played in the New Get Lucky Bar introducing several new songs and an intro. After that, shows with the main force of the scene like Spring Autumn, Ritual Day, Suffocated, Regicide etc. were done frequently. After more than 10 shows the line up worked together smoothly, while they continously worked on new songs and finally they also found their own style.
In September 2004 on the 4th anniversary party of the Painkiller Mag, one of the scene's best Bass Players Gao BoQian who is well known for his personal abilities and skills in fast and exactly played bass techniques, was introduced to HOLLOW by Yang. It didn't take long for him to convince the HOLLOW guys how well he can do the bass guitar and with that the final line up of HOLLOW was completed. Later on Gao BoQian brought his own ideas and his passion for details into HOLLOWs song structure and led the bands style into another level.
In October 2004, HOLLOW did their first Headliner Gig in the CD Cafe and invited the famous Nu Metal Band Twisted Machine as special guest for support. HOLLOW did 13 songs that night in front of the moshing and poging audience.
Their 2nd Headliner gig was done only one month later with Suffocated as special guests. Gao BoQian's amazing bass solo performance rounded up the whole gig into metal perfection.
In December that year the Metal Revolution United Show has been initiated by HOLLOW, where China's most wellknow metal bands like SUFFOCATED, Vomit from TianJin, The Last Successor, Hades, Regicide played all together on the same stage with HOLLOW, it sure was one of the most importend club gig of the year.
After that HOLLOW received invitations for live performances from the New Get Lucky Bar, the Nameless Highland, the 13Club etc. enmass, the name HOLLOW was surely established into Beijings Metal Scene by now.
On January 29th 2005, both HADES and HOLLOW got the invitation from TianJin's AoTu Rec. (owned by VOMIT) to perform on the remomerial gig for PANTERA's guitar genius Dimbag Darell. Along with these two eldest chinese death metal bands, HOLLOW got the chance to exhibit their talents to a new audience. The response was incredible, TianJin's Metal Fans were running wild and wouldn't let Hollow leave the stage without encores. Finally after METALLICA's Seek and Destroy performed together with Shouter TianKui of HADES, HOLLOW was allowed to be released from the stage.
The first half of 2005 is a period marked of increasing their playing skills and songwriting quality. The result of Zigwarc hard working practices is the new Emo/Screamo touch in HOLLOW's music which made them sound more like metal core, but never lost their attention towards speed, heavyness, melody and aggression. US styled riffing and fast bass soli became a trademark of HOLLOW. Now completed 14 songs in total, HOLLOW is up to do something bigger.
Hollow went to a China Metal Invasion Tour in August 2005:

- Aug - 20: Shanghai : 20:30PM in the Harley's Bar : Ticket fee 30 RMB (incl. one drink) : Three bands in total - locally organized by Midibass
- Aug - 21: Hangzhou : 21:30PM in the No.31 BAR, with Falling
- Aug - 23: Xi'an : 19:30PM in the YOYO BAR (old 8 1/2 Bar) with several support bands (incl. XXX band)
- Aug - 25: Wuhan : 20:30PM in West Bar, with Lost River, Grave Protecting Beast, Somber Souls
- Aug - 27: Tianjin : canceled
- Sep - 3: Beijing: 20:30PM in Get Lucky Bar, with Dirty Deeds, Suffocated, Ego Falls, 30 RMB
During the tour, Hollow released their first demo record, entitled "Silence" with three songs that included vocals for the first time. (All other songs circulating in the internet were purely instrumental).
On March 13th 2006, it was announced, that Hollow is supposed to give their last live concert on March 25th 2006 in the New Get Lucky Bar. Brian and Julian are said to leave the country for business and education reasons and therefore the band decided to lay down their instruments and stop performing after their personal own "Last Live".
