Like Candy Shop, Bang Bang Tang (or BBT, translated: Lollypop) debuted at one of Maxell's competitions in November 2007, a month after the band was formed. It also features a female singer – the charmingly geek-chic Xiao Bai – and is comprised mostly of students, rising to prominence through the 0093 showcases. However, Lollypop's style is decidedly indie pop, and along with their eight original songs, their sets are peppered with covers of musicians like Alanis Morissette, Janet Jackson and Joan Jett. Bang Bang Tang's 'A Song for my Angel' was included on last year's Neocha online compilation and the station FM 101.7 plays some of their songs; and the band hopes to release an album this year.
July 19th 2008, they performed during the 0093 showcase show no. 6 at the Yu Yin Tang (Bands: Six Shot, 5-Pointed Star, Candy Shop, Brunch and Bang Bang Tang). According to Andy Best they are new and far from a finished product. But they played well and the whole reason I like the scene is for the DIY/punk aspect..
On March 3rd 2009, the International Women's Day, they performed in the Yuyintang during a Women's Day party organized by 0093 Studios. According to Andy Best: Bang Bang Tang sounded dressed sown in comparison but they are driven by Xiao Bai's great voice. They opted to play more fast songs tonight, recent sets have been almost all indie-folk in style. They closed the set with a couple of crowd pleasing covers and I didn't hear any new material. As usual, Xiao Bai was the focus of the set and the audience seemed happy to bask in her talent. September 11th (at 1933 Factory) and 12th (at Yuyintang and Moganshan Lu), Bang Bang Tang shot parts of their upcoming MV for their song 我最爱缺陷男 (I Love Flawed Men Best).
On January 2nd, 2010, Bang Bang Tang supported Beijing's Guai Li at the Yuyintang. According to Jake Newby: Until that point, Bang Bang Tang had been the band of the night and had actually shown Guai Li up. This was the first time the band had played Yuyintang in nearly a year following their break from gigging for a large chunk of 2009, but they made a fine return. Although their sound was still fairly indie pop as usual, there was more of an edge to their performance than when I've seen them before. Xiao Bai looked and sounded stunning and the band were really tight. In short, they rocked. On February 5th, BBT uploaded a new demo song called 异客梦 on their douban page. On April 9th, 2010, they performed at the Yuyintang. According to Andy Best: Ultimately though, the show fell way short of its potential. The band have built up a set and a following. They promoted their own headlining event and put effort into the flyers and tickets, succeeding to fill the venue. Bit like the Mushrooms did last year. After a strong start it petered out due to woeful mismanagement of details. The support bands were both newish bands and there was too long a stretch of average show, it undermined the night as a whole.
